    Job title: In Work Support Advisor

    Main Purpose

    To provide an In Work support service to those clients in employment through a variety of options including regular telephone contact, face to face visits, mentoring, job coaching and in depth support in order to progress clients in to sustained or open employment and maximise workplace retention.

    Position

    The post holder will report to the Area Client Services Manager.

    Duties

    1.To participate in case conferences with regional/ area employment staff on a regular basis to ensure that co-ordination of customer flow meets business needs. To ensure the client receives a smooth transition in to supported employment.

    2.To participate in training and undertake appropriate learning and development, as identified through regular appraisal and reviews with line manager..

    3.To provide a quality service through regular contact with clients ensuring that all clients have development plans and that timely, effective monitoring, evaluation, support and guidance is provided to a minimum standard ensuring all associated paperwork and/or IT system is completed as required

    4.To ensure appropriate support is available to enable the client to retain or develop in their job, with an emphasis on movement toward sustained unsupported employment where appropriate.

    5.To carry out regular reviews with the client and the employer, ensuring equality and diversity, contractual and legal obligations are met and providing/identifying relevant advice, guidance and support when required to sustain employment.

    6.To seek assistance from HR Advisers and Health and Safety Compliance department for detailed advice when appropriate.

    7.To undertake initial assessment for “Retention” Workstep clients, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.

    8.To liaise with employers to develop their understanding of the services the company provides and refer potential opportunities for further vacancies to the Employer Engagement team.

    9.To develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, current benefits systems and entitlements, programme provision of relevant agencies and opportunities pertaining to employment access.

    10.To operate and encourage a client focused culture to designated standards of service, ensuring client feedback is appropriately reported.

    11.To maintain effective and efficient administrative procedures producing appropriate records and reports as required, including the updating of client details on CMS (Client Management System) database.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION
    IN WORK SUPPORT ADVISER
    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

    Experience:
    •Relevant previous experience in the recruitment/ employment/ placement field.
    •Experience working with disabled/disadvantaged people/adults in employment focused programmes.

    Skills:
    •Knowledge of employment law and disability legislation.
    •Ability to cope with a variety of challenging situations in a calm and sensitive manner.
    •Ability to encourage, persuade and motivate at all levels.
    •Flexibility to cope with the varying demands of the role and achieve the desired results.
    •Empathy and belief in the potential of people with disabilities.
    •Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to a variety of situations
    •Ability to manage and support a caseload and achieve targets for progression
    •Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
    •Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
    •Good organisational skills.
    •IT knowledge or a willingness and aptitude to learn.

    Other Requirements:

    •Willingness to travel inside the designated work area and occasionally outside for meetings, training etc. with possible overnight stays.
    •Positive attitude to disability, health problems and employment problems

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA

    •Good understanding of the local and national labour market and employment issues faced by customers with disabilities
    •Current knowledge of welfare benefits and issues
