JOB DESCRIPTION
Due to ongoing expansion they are currently looking to recruit an experienced Area Leader to oversee a pre-defined area of the manufacturing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for an operational shift team, and will provide direct, hands-on leadership for his/her team in pursuit of success against all operational objectives - specifically Cost, Quality and Delivery. The challenges typically faced in this role consist of the following:
Balancing a leadership role alongside being a key member of the operating team.
Demonstrating leadership capability through enabling the asset area operational resources - people and assets, to achieve a level of performance and reliability to meet the business needs.
Ensuring the team execute required operating standards - process, maintenance, training, housekeeping, safety and quality.
Managing and developing people within their team, in a manner consistent with team based working, improving their skills and capabilities through the utilisation of performance management systems.
Working with other area leaders to ensure delivery of a consistent approach across asset area and site, working towards best practice in operational standards and methods.
Working with other area leaders to provide continuity of operation across 24 hours, 7 days per week.
Contributing to the setting and implementation of an area strategy with Continuous Improvement principles as its core.
Providing high quality feedback to the Resource Support Team from shift to enable accurate and fast diagnostics/repairs.
Ensuring customer service requirements are always met.
Ensuring compliance with any corporate or legislative requirements, including safety, quality, environment etc.

To continually monitor and review performance standards and implement improvement actions as appropriate to benefit the business and support achievement of targets.
To drive the continued implementation of team based working to underpin performance improvements and broaden the technical skills capability of the team
To contribute to and implement an area operational improvement strategy incorporating equipment, materials, resources (including local capex), layout, people and costs. This will be consistent with the 20 Keys way of working.
To contribute to and implement appropriate safety and quality improvement plans across area of responsibility
To ensure delivery of “local” Shift / Asset Area objectives in Safety, Quality, Cost, Output and People Development
To meet any agreed stretch targets beyond budget
To contribute to the annual budget preparation for their operational area as required
To accept responsibility to adopt area strategic initiatives and drive successful implementation into their teams and operating standards
To support any area project initiatives as appropriate
