My client is a prestigious law firm based in Newcastle City Centre. They are looking for a PSM who will report to the managing partner and support the roles of the finance and human resources partner.
Responsibilities
Finance
The PSM will have a thorough understanding of the firm’s financial data and provide analysis and prepare reports for the management team.
Personnel
The PSM will:-
•Ensure the firm is compliant with employment/anti-discrimination/data protection legislation.
•Maintain personnel records.
•Manage the firm’s recruitment, induction, disciplinary, grievance, welfare, sickness, appraisal and training procedure.
ICT
The PSM will work with the ICT Manager to act as an interface with the management group on the maintenance and support of our IT systems and ensuring that the system is developed to support and implement the business plan.
Administration/General management
The PSM will manage the admin team supported by the Officer Administrator. The PSM will ensure that the business is run efficiently, safely and is always satisfactorily serviced in particular taking responsibility for:-
•Maintenance and cleanliness of the office premises.
•Updating the office manual and procedures.
•Keeping the library up-to-date.
Business Development
The PSM will implement the strategies for business development including:-
•Preparation of tenders.
•Liaising with relevant third parties in relation to business growth such as the Legal Services Commission and Business Link.
•Supporting the partner responsible for the Legal Services Commission’s contract in respect of compliance, the maintenance of the contract and the development of it.
Marketing/Publicity
The PSM will oversee and implement the firm’s marketing and publicity strategy including liaising with directories, marketing sources and producing promotional material. The PSM will work with the ICT Manager to ensure the website is up-to-date.
Quality/Skills/Experience
The PSM will be able to demonstrate experience of:-
•People management.
•Managing publicity and approving adverts.
•Project skills – experience of tenders and managing projects.
•Good verbal and written skills.
•Accountancy skills, knowledge of accountancy principles intellect.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate initiative, self-reliance, pro-activity, curiosity and sympathy towards the aims of the business.
The role has the potential for development into a full practice manager role for the right appointee.
