My Client one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry. Who to date have completed more than 1300 major industrial projects in some 80 countries, are looking for a “Design Engineer” to work from their Stockton-on-Tees office.
Role
• As Design Engineer you will take a responsible role in projects and pre-projects, working under supervision within the department, for the Design and Supply of Drawings for Ironmaking, Steelmaking and Continuous Casting industries.
• Will occasionally involve short-term working in sub-contractors workshops, for control and supervision of final assembly and functional testing of Mechanical Equipment.
• May also involve short and longer term site secondments, both in the UK and overseas.
Tasks
• To prepare arrangement/detail drawings in a neat legible manner under the supervision of an engineer.
• To assist in the preparation of calculations under the supervision of an engineer.
• To organise as required the “Taking Off” of prints and folding these as necessary or the creation and file handling of electronic drawings and documents.
• To check drawings prepared by others (Siemens VAI, Client or Subcontractor).
• To Assist in preparation of Data Sheets, Engineering Specifications, Schedules, Material Take-offs, Other engineering documentation.
• To assist in the handling of general documentation i.e. filing, compiling, photocopying, and proof-reading.
• To become familiar with the Departmental Manual, Company Operating Procedures and standards and to carry out his work in accordance with these procedures.
• Maintain their allocated work area in a tidy condition.
• At times, Plant personnel may be requested to undertake tasks not specifically covered by the job description.
Education / Knowledge
• To have successfully completed at least one project or proposal assignment to an acceptable standard.
• Shall have demonstrated good organisation and communication skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure and in harmony with all members of the department and other Engineering disciplines.
• Shall be proficient in the use of CAD systems and shall also be IT literate with experience in the use of Spreadsheets and Databases.
Additional Information
• On-the-job training in mechanical equipment design and technology.
• Training courses as appropriate in relevant engineering aspects and topics.
• Development within the role, as experience and skills develop, leading to progression within the department.
• Current Driving Licence
• Current passport
• Able to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice
