ROLE
The role sits within the learning and children's directorate. Duties and responsibilities for the role of Budget Officer will include:
- To assist in preparing the annual calculations of Schools Budget Shares and to prepare the closedown of school accounts, including the requirements for Consistent Financial Reporting (CFR), also ensuring compliance, throughout, with the Council’s Standing Orders and financial regulations.
- To prepare Governors Statements, Budget Plans, Budget Monitoring Reports, Outturn Projections, salary calculations and other statistical information as required ensuring information provided is accurate and relevant.
- To prepare relevant information for the schools annual review.
- To ensure information relevant to the Schools Intervention and Support Programme is passed to senior colleagues.
- To assist schools facing financial difficulties in starting the relevant processes.
- To attend Governing Body meetings to report on the financial position of the school.
- To resolve/investigate problems identified via Monthly Budget Monitoring Reports.
- To liaise with school Heads/Governors and other Officers regarding budgetary matters to ensure that all decisions taken confirm to statutory requirements.

Suitable candidates will be available to start in this role at short notice. They will also come from a finance environment in either schools or local government.
