Client Description
My Client is an international company supplying into the power generation and oil and gas markets. With a global presence and a first class customer base they continue to lead in both design and manufacturing standards.
Job Description
They are currently looking to recruit an Estimator to prepare pre-contract estimates/budgets for equipment and services manufactured and purchased from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Position Responsibilities
1. Estimates labour, materials and purchases to fabricate and supply equipment.
2. Prepares cost data for sales and manufacturing to assist in project quotations, controlling expenditures, establishing list prices, etc.
3. Analyses actual costs versus standard costs and prepares variance reports.
4. Maintains estimating/cost records in electronic form.
Candidate Description
Skills and Experience
1. Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
2. Has analytical ability when faced with problem solving exercises.
3. Can take responsibility for their own workload, work autonomously and employ the resources of others to assist when needed.
4. Confident when working on large-scale projects involving vast sums of money.
5. Has experience of, and is competent in calculating areas and volumes.
6. Has excellent working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, and generally a good level of PC literacy.
7. Ability to cope with pressure in a demanding environment.
8. Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following:
- Experience in a bespoke manufacturing industry, preferably with fabrication of carbon/stainless steel equipment.
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel
- Previous pre-contract estimating experience would be an advantage.
