Full Description:
An engineering company in North Tyneside is looking to appoint a Logistics Engineer to join their team.

The Logistics Engineering function exists to provide a formal channel for project documentation and information to flow in a controlled manner between the Project Management Teams and the Production / Applications functions. In addition the function also co-ordinates the planning and movement of project specific materials, services and equipment.

Main function of job :

To take logistical responsibility for the administration and co-ordination of projects within the local business unit and hardware procurement and shipment for the global business unit.

Main duties (in order of priority)


Ensure the availability of essential documentation and information to suit the project / production plan
Manage the scheduling / sequencing and logistics of bought in components
Manage sub-contract service providers site work activities
Procurement of specific items of hardware, fluid, spare reels, test couplings etc
Liaison with Procurement Dept to ensure all raw materials are purchased to suit the project schedule
Management of client's stored products e.g. completed spares
Provide logistical support to Global Projects
Storage tracking and purchase requisitions
Arrangement (in conjunction with Shipping administrator) for packing and dispatch of completed products
Project set ups in Oracle Manufacturing and review of manufacturing budget for procured hardware and services

Qualifications required

HNC / HND level qualifications. Ideally in an engineering discipline.

Experience preferred

Experience of heavy engineering, oil and gas manufacturing
Experience in planning / factory logistical activities
An ability to understand the technical aspects of manufacturing / processes
Conversant with IT software i.e. word, excel, powerpoint
Experience of communicating with all levels of personnel
Shipping & customs, domestic & international, including some hazardous goods, however, training will be given.
